How it actually goes

1. Establish the categoryInvestor, entrepreneur, specialised talent, scientist, outstanding student, or property owner. Each has its own evidence and its own approving body.
2. Assemble the evidenceValuation and title for property; audited accounts or an accredited incubator letter for entrepreneurs; qualifications, salary certificate and a professional endorsement for talent.
3. ApplyThrough ICP or the emirate's GDRFA, directly or through an approved channel.
4. Complete the medical and Emirates IDThe same fitness test and biometrics as any residence visa.
5. Receive a five or ten-year residenceRenewable, and without an employer or free zone sponsoring you.

The golden visa removes the sponsor, not the obligations. You still hold an Emirates ID, still need valid health insurance, and property-route holders must keep the qualifying asset.
