Practical guide
PO Box and business address
The UAE has no street-level postal delivery in the way most countries do. Business mail goes to a PO Box, and a company without one has no reliable way to receive official correspondence.
In practice
PO Box and business address in the UAE
Why it matters more than it sounds
Government correspondence, bank documents, cheques and legal notices arrive by post. A company that cannot receive them misses renewal notices, tax correspondence and occasionally legal service — none of which stop being effective because you did not read them.
The options
A dedicated Emirates Post PO Box, a shared box provided by your free zone or business centre, or a virtual office package that includes mail handling and forwarding. Most flexi-desk packages include some form of mail handling; check whether it includes forwarding or merely holding.

The sequence
How it runs.
Check what your licence package includes
Many include a box or shared handling.
Register the box against the company
Not against an individual, or it leaves when they do.
Use it consistently
On the licence, with the bank, and with every authority.
Arrange forwarding if you are not local
Holding mail you never collect helps nobody.
Renew annually
A lapsed box returns mail to sender, including renewal notices.
Questions
In practical terms yes. The UAE has no street-level business postal delivery, so a PO Box or a mail handling service is how the company receives government, bank and legal correspondence.
Many flexi-desk and virtual office packages include mail handling or a shared box. Check whether it includes forwarding or only holding.
For many free zone licences yes — the virtual office satisfies the premises requirement. Mainland licences generally require physical premises with a registered tenancy.
One question
What do you actually need in Dubai?
Mid-band rates are reasonable, but a registered address alone is still better served by a free zone package that bundles the licence and visa allocation.
Compare the 40 authoritiesOr just ask usThis is where a conventional lease starts making sense against a free zone package, particularly with the rent-free periods currently on offer. Compare the all-in cost including fit-out, not the headline rate.
