PO Box and business address

The UAE has no street-level postal delivery in the way most countries do. Business mail goes to a PO Box, and a company without one has no reliable way to receive official correspondence.

Why it matters more than it sounds

Government correspondence, bank documents, cheques and legal notices arrive by post. A company that cannot receive them misses renewal notices, tax correspondence and occasionally legal service — none of which stop being effective because you did not read them.

The options

A dedicated Emirates Post PO Box, a shared box provided by your free zone or business centre, or a virtual office package that includes mail handling and forwarding. Most flexi-desk packages include some form of mail handling; check whether it includes forwarding or merely holding.

What to watch. Registering the box in an employee's personal name is common and creates a problem the day they leave — including losing access to correspondence the company legally needs to receive.

Use it consistently
On the licence, with the bank, and with every authority.
Arrange forwarding if you are not local
Holding mail you never collect helps nobody.
Renew annually
A lapsed box returns mail to sender, including renewal notices.
