Licence suspension, blocks and blacklisting
Authorities block companies for unpaid fines, expired documents, unresolved labour complaints and court judgments — and the block usually surfaces when you try to do something else entirely.

A UAE company can be blocked or suspended by several different authorities, each for its own reasons and each on its own system. The licensing authority suspends for unpaid renewal fees or unresolved violations. MOHRE blocks work permits for WPS failures, unresolved labour complaints or Emiratisation shortfalls. Immigration blocks visa transactions where the establishment card has lapsed or sponsored individuals have unresolved status. Courts and creditors can register blocks arising from judgments. The FTA can restrict where filings or payments are outstanding.
Because these systems are separate, a block is almost always discovered indirectly — a visa renewal that will not process, a licence amendment that is refused, a bank that declines a transaction. The instinct is to argue with whoever delivered the bad news, who is generally not the source and cannot lift it. The productive step is to identify which authority holds the block and why, because each is cleared at source and by a different route. A company with several blocks accumulated over time has to clear them individually, and in the right order, since some depend on others.
